Connie Y. Chiang is Professor of History and Environmental Studies at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She received her B.A. in History and Environmental Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara and her M.A. and Ph.D. in History from the University of Washington.

While growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area and completing her education on the Pacific Coast, she developed a passion for the environmental and social history of the American West. Now settled on the Atlantic Coast, she continues her research in these areas and teaches a range of undergraduate courses, from North American environmental history to Asian American history.

She is the author of two books, Shaping the Shoreline: Fisheries and Tourism on the Monterey Coast (2008) and Nature Behind Barbed Wire: An Environmental History of the Japanese American Incarceration (2018).
